The Orchard Sports Injury Classification System (OSICS) is one of the world’s most commonly used systems for coding injury diagnosis in sports injury surveillance systems. Its major strengths are that it has wide usage, has codes specific to sports medicine and that it is free to use, provided it is appropriately acknowledged.
It is broken down into Title, Region, Parent, Specific and Detail. Consider Title as the layman's description of the injury, this description will be shown on multiple areas of the AMS including the player profile so it is important for the Title to be something all staff members can understand. The following four elements are more technical and will be interpreted by medical personal.
